![]() | Position statement on the Local Council meeting of 22 May 20232023-06-28As a member of the board of directors of the joint social office Bettembourg, Frisange and Roeser, Councillor Angelo Lourenço is proud to see that the municipality of Roeser continues to set a good example in terms of financial support for the social office. It is important to remember that the social office is, and will remain, a source of support for all our citizens who, at some point in their lives, may be going through more difficult times. The social workers who work there can be compared to generalists in the social field, to whom residents can turn when they need help. It is therefore our duty to continue to support them. Councillor Angelo Lourenço is delighted to note that the implementation agreement for the "new district" special development plan for land at Peppange, Enkelecksbierg, meets and exceeds the requirements of the Nature Pact. In fact, 68% of the said area is unsealed, which is well above the 15% stipulated in the Nature Pact. Councillor Bettina Ballmann welcomed the fact that the Maison Relais regulations had been adapted for 3-year-olds, and underlined the municipality's desire to make the Maison Relais accessible to early years children in the future. Unfortunately, this will not be possible for the start of the new school year in September, due to the shortage of teachers on the labour market, but Bettina Ballmann hopes that this problem will soon be overcome and that recruitment will progress. Given that early contact with the Luxembourg language is a great advantage, especially for foreign children, and that studies show that early education enhances children's development, Bettina Ballmann is keen that the possible use of the Maison Relais should enable more children to have access to early education in the future. Local councillor Sandra Carelli is delighted that the new school building in Berchem will open its doors at the start of the 2023/2024 school year. Thanks to its diversity, it offers the right conditions to best meet the needs of each child attending school and guarantees a better exchange between the halfway house and the school. The integrated skills centre also contributes to inclusion. Sandra Carelli was also delighted that our “Bëschklass” (forest classroom) can continue to be offered, despite the quota set by the Ministry, so that the children can continue to experience and understand nature in an authentic setting. |
