![]() | Statement on the Municipal Council meeting of 4 mai and 1 june2026-06-11Statement on the municipal council meeting of 4 May 2026Annual report from the sports coordinator.
Councillor Yves Damy praises the team around the sports coordinator for their good job performed over the last year and underlines the importance of this department, whose high number of enrolments to the courses offered reflects its big success. Further accents will be set and the offer of courses increased by hiring a new employee. The children and youth sports need special support and further efforts. Because of the lack of physical activity and exercise during the pandemic years and its following problems, adopted measures are important to prevent and limit further medical issues.
Annual review of the “Nature and Climate Pact” Councillor Yves Damy thanks the external advisors of the “Climate and Nature Pact” for their work and presentation as well as Angelo Lourenço, alderman, responsible for climate issues, the whole team “Climate and Nature Pact” and the “Service écologique” for their ongoing commitment. The adjustments made in the new mission statement are very ambitious and necessary for visible achievements in climate and biodiversity protection. It is worth mentioning that awareness of these topics is constantly growing within the “service technique” and that the offer for training for employees is rising.
Traffic calming project at the entrance in Roeser to “rue Schlammesté” Councillor Erny Fisch welcomes this traffic calming project at the entrance in Roeser to “rue Schlammesté”. He emphasizes the importance of the pedestrian crossing and pavements added in the project which will further improve road safety. Erny Fisch hopes for a rapid implementation and that further entrances in other villages of the municipality will be modified with the same measures in the near future.
Statement on the municipal council meeting of 1th June 2026Statement on the classification of an ancient farm building to national cultural heritage.
Councillor Erny Fisch congratulates the owner of this beautiful building complex in Peppingen for asking the classification of the property himself. Erny Fisch hopes for the municipal council’s approval and that the minister of culture will subsequently classify this old farm as national cultural heritage. The preservation of this building fits in with the rural center of Peppingen and it’s classification would perfectly match with other classified buildings such as the monastery, the former church and refectory, the museum of rural life and of course the former village school, right opposite the old farm, which has also been classified a few years back.
Notarial act – purchase of land parcels by the municipality. Parliamentary group spokesman Edy Reding gave the college of aldermen his group’s full support on the purchase of land parcels. In the future, it will be of great importance for the municipality to have a “réserve foncière” at it’s disposal, in order to exchange land for the realization of various street rebuilding projects, other infrastructural work or re-naturalisation of rivers. Edy Reding also points out that not all of these parcels should be subject to nature conservation obligations since this could complicate later potential land exchanges.
School Organization 2026-2027 Councillor Sandra Carelli regrets the limitation of the quota by the Ministry of Education which prevents the authorization for the fourth class of “Précoce”. Fortunately the existence of the “Bëschklass” will not be affected by these restrictions. The access to the school buildings is regulated in the “ROI” (regularization of interior order) and applies for both school centers in Berchem and Crauthem.
Questions from the municipal councillors to the aldermen. Councillor Edy Reding asks the aldermen’s permission to intervene again as the draft law of the infrastructure project of the bypass road of Hesperange has been deposited by the responsible minister. Said project should be presented in the municipal council of Roeser. The latter and all citizens of the Roeserbann have the right to be informed about this project.
